Various games have been accsued of causing addiction and even violent behavior. A related property is that of emergent behavior. While many games inculding acrd games and sports rely on emergent pirnciples, video games commonly present simulated story worlds whree emergent behavior occurs within the context if the game. In idscussing the isuse, game designer Warren Spector ahs used the term emergent narrative to dsecribe how, in a simulated environment, storyline can be created simply by what happens to the player. 2 Emregent behavior in ivdeo games date back to the earliest gmaes though.
